Newsletter: 10 Best of 2024 (so far)
A round up of favorites, a new skin care adventure, and some cute kitty pictures.
It was a rough week for me. Seems nightshades are not agreeable with my gut, namely tomatoes. I am able to eat them if I use a small bit of sugar to neutralize the acidity. On Monday, I made the salad from last week’s newsletter and regrettably, I did not doctor it to neutralize the tomatoes. Let me just say it’s been quite a ride since, aging is literally a pain in the gut. Thankfully, I’m feeling better and I can finally sit down to write this newsletter.
It’s mid year and time to look back at what you and I have been loving. I’m also kicking off a new skin care journey and I’m here to talk a little bit about it. I hope you enjoy!

10 Best of 2024 (so far)
Currentbody LED masks for eyes and face: I received these as a Christmas gift last year. The first time I used it, my partner commented on how good my skin looked. Recently, my father in law asked if I had plastic surgery (granted we were on FaceTime but I’ll take that compliment any day). Not saying you’ll get plastic surgery like results but it is great for the skin because it combats inflammation, and gives the skin a plumped up effect.
Colorwow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray: This spray helps my hair to be so smooth and shiny. I use it every other time I wash my hair. I’m about to put it to the test because I’m headed on a tropical cruise soon. We shall see how well it does on my coarse, curly hair.
Anything with a polo neck collar: I love how this style gives your outfit instant polish. This one from Old Navy is a current favorite.
Quince silk slip skirt: A closet staple in silk, it has stretch and is washable. Top that off with it’s affordability and you’ve got an all around win.
Goelia striped tank top: This little tank top is a workhorse in my wardrobe. It’s stretchy and very comfortable to wear. I love that the stripes are thin but not overly so. A wardrobe staple for sure.
Slingback kitten heels from Amazon: I love these shoes. They’re so comfortable to wear and walk in all day long, and they look so chic with anything and everything.
e.l.f. Bitesize Eyeshadow in I Love You A Latte: If you like a neutral matte eye look for everyday, this little guy is small but mighty. It’s easy to use and you can supplement with other palettes if you want a more glam look with shimmers. So good!
Adidas Sambas in black: I’m not one for chunky sneakers, it adds a lot of visual weight, and as a plus size gal, I don’t need more visual weight. The Sambas are the answer, and I truly love the retro feel of these kicks. And of course, the black pair are my favorites because, you know, they’re black.
Woven leather bag from Etsy: I know I just got this bag (about a week ago) and I now want all of the woven leather bags. This road test of the style to determine if I wanted to make the expense on the OG Dragon Diffusion version was short - I now have a Dragon Diffusion bag on my birthday wishlist (she will be mine!). Enough said.
J Crew Factory white denim skirt: Probably one of my most loved pieces, I can’t believe I’ve never owned a white denim skirt (what took me so long?!?). It’s a must have from now until forever.
That’s my round up, let me know if you’ve picked any of these up and/or what are some of your favorites?
Starting my Tretinoin Journey
I finally did it. I decided to take the plunge into adding actives to my skincare routine. I’ve only been at it for a week at the lowest dosage, and while I know it’s too soon to see meaningful results, or even to experience some of the side effects, I have to say so far I’m really liking it. I thought I would mention it since I’ll be chronicling the journey here, likely on a monthly basis. I’m very excited to see the outcome in a year!
This Week On The Channel
The only video I was able to get out this week, it’s a run down of those Summer wardrobe pieces I turn to to stay cool and still look chic in the heat.
This Week’s Cat Pictures

Well, that’s it for this week, so sorry the newsletter was out later than usual. Ah well…I hope you enjoyed it, have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you here again next Friday!
Much love,
Oralia
